Research all plants for toxicity before allowing kitty access. Cats chewing plants can injure their digestive system.
Place dangerous or delicate plants fully out of reach of cats, like on high shelves. Don't assume a cat can't access a spot.
Choose heavy pots that cats cannot tip over to access the soil and roots. Anchor pots to surfaces if needed.
Cover soil in foil or rocky materials that deter cats from digging. Use securely fastened wire mesh over soil.
Use citrus peels, pepper flakes, or scents cats dislike around vulnerable plants. Reapply smells frequently.
Lightly spray cat accessible plants with water when catching kitty’s interest. Most cats will avoid damp plants.
Redirect chewing with cat grass, toys, and scratching posts. Consider clicker training the "leave it" command.
